Position: Principal RF Engineer (Pace/RF/PE/01)
Job Profile:
As a principal engineer within the RF Group you will be responsible for Specification, design and development of RF circuits & RF printed circuit boards for Digital Set top boxes.
The designs include a wide range of microwave functions including:
- Silicon RF Tuner & Demod interfaces
- General Amplifiers
- Low Noise Amplifiers
- Voltage Controlled Oscillators
- Phase Locked Loops
- Mixers
- Filters (Micro-strip & Cavity)
- Voltage Regulators
- Standards such as DVB-S,S2, DVB-T, DVB-C, ATSC
As a principal engineer you will be expected to take technical responsibility as the responsible engineer for the Set top box RF front end design & validation in which the above technologies and functions are included. Such equipments include:
Microwave Office Vector Signal Analyzer,
Spectrum Analyzer,
Vector Network Analyzer,
RF Signal generators.
As responsible engineer your job will require that you interface with and facilitate the concurrent engineering process. This will require optimising the design for both microwave performance and environmental performance (EMC, temperature, life and radiation)
In all designs it is essential that cost and schedule are of equal importance to technical performance, in this regard successful candidates will also be aware of project management and commercial skills.

Preferred Profile:
Ø Comprehensive electrical design knowledge of modern power processing techniques as applied to SMPS and dc/dc, ac/dc converters, Transformer design.
Ø Experience in developing, capturing and reviewing system level power requirements for Consumer Electronics products and generation of corresponding power processing design solutions that meet established EMI/EMC requirements
Ø Familiarity with EMI/EMC, thermal stress, and other environmental issues and their impact on design methodology
Ø Working knowledge of schematic entry and layout tools (Mentor Graphics Expedition, Board station).
Ø Experience with low and medium power high frequency dc/dc and ac/dc power conversion design (topologies, components, control, and packaging). Apply your design expertise to provide recommendations on alternate architectures.
Ø Must be able to breadboard /assemble, debug and conduct engineering tests to verify design performance statically and dynamically.
